God always wins

One of my goals with this blog is that I am honest - and don't make everything sound peachy and perfect when it's not. so, here goes...

I had a fight with God today (never a good way to start out the morning). After hearing from a friend yesterday more bad news about the economy in the States and friends that are loosing jobs and houses etc, I started worrying for me and everyone else in the world. So in my journal I start writing claiming that God is in control and He knows what is going on and I have nothing to fear because He is always God. Then I start in on the worrying and complaining that friends are in hard spots and about how hard it is to live on faith that our funds will come in every month. It was ugly and kept going back and forth. Well it started to improve when a quote that I love came to mind " When I worry about my problems, I actually convey the belief that my problems are more important than God's command to rejoice always." So I continued the day in 'forced' rejoicing... until church.

We had an extra long worship time tonight at church and God kept hammering home His point to me - that my job is to rest and trust and His job is to take care of it all. And then - to top off all my worries about money - it was missions Sunday and God says to give! And truly - it feels great to give and it is a relief to trust, because then He's in control and not me. Just because I'm a missionary does not exempt me from giving.

This song got my attention tonight:

Still: by Hillsong:

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

So, even if the U.S. economy is falling apart, even if Honduras becomes Communist, even if the roof leaks, even if there is a Swine flu pandemic, even if Sigel is struggling with adding another family to his life, even though our schedule is crazy busy, my job is to BE STILL AND KNOW HE IS GOD! His job is to take care of all the rest.

oh - and when you fight with God, it's a loosing battle from the start - really, God'll always win. It's a good thing He's patient through our fits. :)

*** Sigel's adoptive mom and brother and sister are coming in tomorrow for a two week visit! We're all excited about it. We can tell that Sigel is nervous but also really excited!  Someone told me tonight that the family that is getting Sigel is getting a jewel and it's so true!  ***
