Monday: We bought a car!!! We finally have a car for me - which will be a very big help in getting done what we need to get done on a daily basis. It is a 1999 Honda CRV, automatic (PRAISE GOD), all wheel drive, green. :) We found it in the paper and we're so happy that the process was easier than when we were house hunting (which took 2 months). This only took a few hours. Sigel also had school and a dentist appointment today plus we had a staff dinner in the evening.
Tuesday: Left the house at 6:30 am with a group totaling 11 of us to go to San Marcos de Colon ( 4 hours away) to visit with Sigel's family. It was us, Leonie & Mario & Joshua, Skarleth, and Sigel's adoptive family that is visiting. San Marcos de Colon is almost bordering Nicaragua at the far East of Honduras. It was very very pretty and green with rolling hills and mountains etc. So fun to see more of the Honduran countryside. Sigel was very stressed - to be with both his birth mom and sister and also with his new family - he wasn't quite sure how to act. His mom and sister took a bus from their home - 2 hours from the town - so they could meet with us. The sister was so desperate for Sigel's attention - she followed him around the whole time touching him and holding his hand - it was very cute and sad at the same time. The mom was doing well - it was obvious that it was also hard on her to see him with his new family - although she really believes that it's the right thing for him so I think that made it easier for her. We spent the 2 hours in the park with her - chatting and taking pictures and catching up. Sigel was so emotionally tired that he fell asleep on Tristan's shoulder while he was driving (Sigel was in front middle of the truck). With all the bathroom and food stops, we didn't get home until 9pm. Long but good day. I wish I could read Sigel's mind and find out how he's really doing and what he's really thinking through all this.
Wednesday: Tristan was asked a few weeks ago to help a brigade from the states who was partnering with a church here to do a 'Honduras Home maker over addition.' They adopted a family - single expecting mom with two children that the church has been ministering to for a few months - and fixed the holes in the walls, painted inside and out, fixed the roof, building a retaining wall, putting in a latrine, a rain catching system, and also a cement floor. Tristan's job was the cement floor -they needed him for his expertise and his big truck to haul the materials. He worked all day long and was very happy with the results. The neat thing is he was able to bring with him Wilson - the husband of a family that we have been ministering to, and work with him all day. Tomorrow morning we go to the dedication service of the house and we will attend the church that has done this project.
***This was part of the trail to get to the house - it was a 5 minute walk on a tiny trail through a creak bed and up the other side. And they had to carry all the sand, gravel, and cement, plus all the other supplies to the house!
Friday: Tristan (once again I stayed home with Sigel) and a group of 4 guys loaded our truck with food, clothes, medicine, plastic for roofs, to a community that was hit very bad by the earthquake a month ago. Around 70 families had lost homes and were rebuilding from scratch ( the government only offered $150 to rebuild a house that had been damaged by the earthquake - this doesn't go far enough to rebuild a house!). So Aben, our friend, has been collecting supplies to take to this community to help them out. Tristan was the designated driver. The entire back of the truck was loaded with beans, rice, corn, etc to give to the families. The DR they brought saw 90 families and gave out medicine, and about that many family received food and supplies. What a great day! The neat thing is that the Fire Department partnered with the group and Tristan was the only foreigner out there helping - it was Hondurans helping Hondurans which I love to see.
***One of the houses that had been destroyed in the earthquake. Tristan's truck was loaded down & full of supplies! What giving people to donate all the food and supplies!
Saturday: Today we slept in and then went for a hike - jumping rocks up a creek and back. Sigel is a pro at it - running from rock to rock - jumping over huge gaps. He loved it. Bailey (our little puppy) and I were a bit slower :). A day of rest was very nice and very much needed!
Tomorrow is a big deal politically for this country - the current President is attempting to change the constitution so that he can remain in power. He is working together with Cuba and Venezuela (both communist countries) to be a dictator of Honduras. It is quite scary. Look it up online - Honduras news - and you'll get a little idea of what is going on. Honduras might be the next communist country in the world. The congress and supreme court is trying to kick him out -and there is talk of a coup. crazy days in this world.

Hey just want to drop an encouraging word from a random college kid whose heart is set on ministry in central america. Prayers that God's voice is heard clearly in your ministry.
Hi Guys,
Just read about the coup taking place. I'm thinking of you and the people of Honduras.
Hey guys!
We're praying for you both, knowing that whatever happens in this crisis God will see you through, and work his will!
