Family Nights

One of the 4 goals that the community leaders chose for 2015 was to unite their community. We've been having 'unity events' throughout the year - our latest one being a Family Night. It was awesome! Families arrived as units, dressed in their best and ready to play and learn together.

One of the CTC leaders welcomed everyone and spoke on the value of family and how strong families makes strong communities.

We then split everyone up into 4 groups so we could rotate through the stations (and of course Tristan's group was the loudest and silliest, lol)

Station 1: Prayer: it was an activity that talked about why it was important to pray together as a family and a practical way to do it.

Station 2: Studying the Word of God: Complete with Bible Sword Drills and each  family receiving a Bible

Station 3: Outside games: it was SO FUN to watch 3 generational families playing frisbee and jump rope together! (the little boy pictured above lost his grandma that week - this laughter was good medicine)
Station 4: Inside games: Each family learned how to plan a table game (such as Uno or Go Fish) and then took the game home so they could continue playing it.

And of course food: we served a snack (cooked by our micro-business ladies as they inaugurated the gazebo) for one of the family nights, and a dinner at the other.

We did 2 of these events during the summer  - each with the help of great teams, our entire staff, and stellar translators! I think this was my favorite thing we did all summer - watching families play together and remember the need to care for each other and grow together was a beautiful thing!
