Day 11 - Guatemala City, Guatemala to Ocotopeque, Honduras

We left Guatemala City at 6am and headed to the Honduran border. When we were about 3 hours from the border, we stopped on the road because a strike had taken over the road in protest to the government. This is very common in Central America. Last year as teachers there probably 8 days that school was canceled due to strikes in the city. So the only thing we could do was stop like everyone else and sit and wait for the strike to be over. Three and a half hours later we were moving again…such is life. We arrived at the border around 2pm – cleared the Guatemalan side and then went to start the process in Honduras. Because were importing all our things, it was a long process. So because we got there so late, they told us we would need to leave the trailer over night at the border and we could go into Honduras to find a hotel for the night or we could sleep in the truck at the border because there was no way we would have all the paperwork for importing finished by 5pm that day. So, we prayed and trusted that God would take care of us and left the trailer in the hands of God and a watchman for the night. God was teaching us about trusting in Him. So we got Max through customs and our truck and headed to Ocotopeque (border town) for the night. We ate Honduran food for the first time (so good!) and slept well.

I think the funniest and best stress reliever of this busy day is that while we were walking Max, he wasn't paying attention because he was so into sniffing that he fell into a gutter. It was hilarious - he was quite confused that a gutter would be in his way. He's good looking, just not that smart.
