Well, I've been reprimanded for not writing, so, I'll do what I can to give an overview of the last 6 weeks.
We're settled into Tristan's parents house. They are so kind to let us come back home - they've even let us bring Max home with us :). Tristan's doing construction and has quite a list of requests from people. I"m back to working at the adoption/foster care agency that I was working for before Honduras. The day goes by really quickly for both of us and then the evenings go even quicker. This last year we've been used to school hours and being home by 4:30 in the afternoon - we're now getting home closer to 6pm.
We had a welcome home/surprise B-day party for Tristan and that was really fun to catch up with people. My mom and brothers and Tristan's sister came for the party. We also got to see my aunt Gloria from from San Diego that weekend so that was fun. It was a weekend of catching up with people. We've had family dinners lots which is something we really missed this last year.
We've gone up to Mohagen's house in South Lake Tahoe a couple times which has been really fun. We took our friends John and Adrianna from Honduras with us up their for the 4th of July and spent the weekend on the boat and playing. Then our friend Jenny from Honduras came as well and we took her up for a weekend in the sun as well. It was fun teaching everyone how to water ski/wake board. It's so relaxing yet exhausting (because of all the fun) at the same time. We're going back this weekend as well with Tristan's aunts and uncles.
We went up to Oregon to see my family and that was great. My niece, Hannah, is so big and grown up - she's now 2 1/2 years old and loves to play. She remembered us (or was told about us) enough that she warmed up to us really quickly. Uncle Bo Bo is a favorite to her because he'll do anything she wants :). We were there for my dad's birthday so that was fun - we deep fried a turkey and made homemade bread and ice cream. My sister canned tuna with/for me. We got to hang out with our friends Candace and Evan and their family - very fun to be with them.
In our spare time, we've been running, seeing people, going to church, preparing papers for our residency in Honduras, and working to get things ready for us to go back to Honduras. We are in the process of talking with an organization that does what we want to do in Honduras so that's really exciting for us. We'll wait and see how it all pans out. We've started going through our shed full of stuff that we had in storage and we're trying to eliminate. We went to car races this last weekend with Tristan's uncle and our friend Karena. We've been enjoying BBQs and hanging out with friends.
So, that's 6 weeks in a nutshell. Hope you're all doing well.
