You know how in the movie Bruce Almighty when Bruce first became "God" and he was in the restaurant and started hearing everyones prayers and it was so loud to him that he started screaming.... well that's how it sounds! :) Ok not quite that bad but we have been used to being in our own little world where we don't hear English and we know we can talk about anything in a public place and 97% of the people around us cannot understand us (which can lead to very deep conversations while grocery shopping). I am able to tune all the spanish conversations around me out because I would have to concentrate to understand it. So now, we're back in the states and we can hear peoples conversations and EVERYONE is speaking English. Very strange I must say - I feel like i"m easdropping on peoples conversations. I"m still getting used to drinking the tap water and throwing the toilet paper down the toilet and not in the garbage (which I've done in the last 24 hours because of habit. Driving is strange because no one is laying on the horn or cutting you off. It's really nice to be home and to be seeing family. We have gone through a few boxes of things we left and it feels like Christmas because we had forgotten what we had. It's really cold here!!!
Our flight went well. We left out house at 4:30am to catch a ride to the airport because the airport in our town had closed a month ago due to a crash, so we went 4 hours north to the next closest airport...then waited and waited...then flew to Houston and waited and waited... and then finally landed in San Francisco at 12:45am and were met by Bruce and Shanon and drove home. So it was a long day of travel but it was smooth - no problems in customs or with our slightly overweight luggage or anything of the sort, just long!
We spend our first day back relaxing and organizing. We'll both be starting work on Monday.

Isn't that the strangest feeling: to hear and understand everything around you?!
