Emotions Run High

We leave Friday for the states. I saw this with great gladness and a bit of sadness. We're leaving our lives for 5 weeks - our house, our schedule, our hearts, our kids that we are with everyday, we are putting on hold the dreams that we're working to accomplish here... all for 5 weeks! I know - it's really not that long - but it feels like a long time now as we're preparing to go. But on the other hand I'm so excited to get a break, to refresh and be fed (not really talking about physical food), to have time with Tristan without someone else pulling one of us away for something 'important', to be with family and catch up on lives that we really miss being involved with. Sigel is working hard to deal with us leaving but it's really hard on him - he's been super clingy and then pushes us away, cries for a bit and then surprises us by responsibly asking us to write down instructions for him about how to take care of the dogs and the chickens (what a kid!).

There's always so much to do before you go away on a trip - especially because we're leaving 2 19 year old girls in the house with Sigel. So there's lots to prepare. Tuesday we went to town and had a fabulous day of getting things done - now remember, we're in Honduras where things happen so slow that it's an accomplishment to get 2 errands done in an afternoon (last week it took Tristan 8 hours to register the car!). Well on Tuesday we got our Driver's Licenses renewed (amazing it only took 2 hours!), met with an architect, picked up receipts and checks from the treasurer of El Ayudante, bought dog food, bought rice for the feeding program, went to 3 banks (because of course you can't do all three things at the same bank!), Tristan fixed electrical and installed a shower head at a friends house, I got a pedicure, Sigel had school, visited our friend Maria, bought gifts to bring back to the States, exercised and...well I'm sure there was more.... anyways. :) God really blessed our day and it was so much fun to get some much done in one day when just any one of those could have taken all day in itself.

Please pray for us - for our flight to the States, for Sigel & Heidy & Skarleth as they live and work out a schedule for themselves, for us to be able to do what we need to do in the states and also have some good rest time, and whatever else God puts on your heart. We have some big projects going on right now in Honduras and don't want anything to slow down because we're missing 5 weeks of it.

oh a note on Sigel - He's grown so much! The pants that he got when he first moved in with us in May are almost getting short on him! So today we tried on 10Long and they fit him! Wow - show's what good nutrition and happiness does for a boy! He's so much taller now! He made cookies tonight - it was so cute - helped me with the dough and then put them on the sheets, did the timer, put them in and out of the oven and even got a little burn from his efforts - he was so proud of himself for doing it all. And they tasted great! :)
