It’s Sunday morning – 8:15 and all three of my kids are
still asleep – very very weird. Unfortunately it’s because Maddy is very
sick…again. She’s had a fever off and on
for 3 days now and an extremely sore throat and cough that keeps her up all
night – so nights have been very long and sleepless. I’ve been seeking some
help with natural remedies because it feels as though we’ve been sick
constantly since Ali was born – and what is making sense is that Ali’s (and
mine and maybe Maddy’s) immune system has been hit so hard that it’s incredibly
low and just can’t fight things off. So we need to do some things to increase
our immune system again – it seems like lots of work and very daunting, but
I’ll do what I can because I’m tired of it!
On another note, we’ve moved into our new home at El
Ayudante! 6 years ago I was hesistent to move to Tegucigalpa with a school
taking care of us, then God pushed us a step more – raising funds and being on
our own but with a ministry of people looking out for us – then He sent us to
Comayagua away from all our friends – and now, He’s sent us into the bush J lol. It’s amazing to me how patient God is with us
– allowing us to take baby steps and showing us that all along the way HE is so
faithful. He knew that if He’d have asked us to move where we are right now 6
years ago –we’d have ran… so He took us, by His grace, and has got us here now.
We are all enjoying living out here (for the most part – Sigel is not thrilled
but I think he likes it more than he’s willing admit because there are way more
kids around his age to play soccer with and ride bikes). We’ve been in our house 1 week now and it’s
great. There are lots of things to finish on the house – but it’s livable and
Tristan is working on all the things that need to be finished.
In January we had a group of guys here for 2 weeks from
Maryland – working on the finish work on our house and then also building the
cabinets in the medical clinic. They built us beautiful kitchen cabinets,
installed the doors, built closets and vanitys in the bathrooms…etc etc.
amazing work. I feel so humbled that they would come here to work and bless us
directly - usually everyone that comes,
comes to work with us to go out and serve others – so to have them here to
focus on our house was humbling to say the least.
This year so far has been very challenging – we’ve been sick
a lot, we’ve been without a home or space of our own, we’ve had 4 weeks of
teams, and we now have others working with us that we’ve trying to help them
get adjusted and figure out life here in Honduras. I think we’re finally over
the bump and on our way to life not being so difficult – Sigel has started
school again, we’re in our new home, we have a month without teams so that we
can catch up on all that we’ve been missing, and we have more hands to help us
with ministry stuff. ((sidenote: we’re
so blessed with our new co-workers! The other day we had Jeremie running
errands in Comayagua, sent Jeff to a town to pick up wood, sent the Howards to
Tegucigalpa to get stuff, I was with the team buying food, and Tristan was here
at EA leading up the construction…. How did we do this without them all!?!?!))
ok, it’s 8:42 and still 3 sleeping kids. I think I’ll have another cup of coffee.
Tristan has taken the team up to the top of the mountain to have a church
service and hand out winter hats (yes it gets that cold up there) and shoes. Too
bad our kids are sick, we all love those kinds of mornings. Ok, enough ramblings…
