How to House Hunt in Honduras

So we thought we had a house that was going to be great. But do you ever get that gut feeling that it's just not right and you can't shake it no matter what (that's the Holy Spirit) ? Well we both had that and it hasn't gone away so we're telling the owner we don't want the house (sad day). So we continue the search. Unfortunately there is no Craigslist for Honduras so we've been told the best way is to drive around the neighborhood of where you want to live and stop and ask people on the road if they know of any houses that are available. We've also looked in the newspaper and called real estate agents, but haven't had much luck with that. Driving and asking is very tedious. We spent 5 hours yesterday driving, looking, asking, meeting with real estate agents, driving, looking, calling etc. We did find a house yesterday - it's pink :). we both like it - they question is the location we're not sure about and it's a tight squeeze to fit the truck in the gate. We looked at an adobe house (made of mud and the walls are almost two feet thick) but the door ways are really short and we both have to duck - our friend suggested just wearing football helmets in the house so we don't hit our heads. We will go back up and drive down every road looking for for sale signs again on Monday. Please pray that we find the right house and both know it's the right one - and quickly!

Spanish lessons are going great. I'm loving learning and feel like even though it's only been 6 hours so far, I'm a bit more confident. She's a great teacher and can answer all my 'why's' about the rules and the grammar. It's been great for both of us. We continue Monday again with more lessons.

It's so cold here! Last night it was 50 degrees F! wow. Everyone is shivering and freezing. But we will soon be complaining that it's too hot :). ha ha. can't ever be happy.

Plans for next week: Spanish classes, go out to Comayagua for two days to work at the sight, move houses again - starting Wednesday we're house sitting for friends who are going to the states, and HOUSE HUNTING! We'll also throw in some soccer, women's Bible study, worship practice, maybe a feeding program :). You know...just us keeping busy.

I guess that's the difference between Indiana and Honduras in the winter... we hit 50 degrees this weekend, and we're thrilled that it's so warm! The snow melted, and we didn't need scarves or gloves! :)
