Day 8
I’ve copied my journal writing to tell you about today’s happenings.
“Today started at 4am. We left the hotel by 5am and headed south. We made great time and didn’t get lost (praise God!). We went through some cute little towns and by passed the big ones to avoid getting lost. One town you can’t go through with a trailer or you get a ticket – so we bypassed. We ate sandwiches on the road and only stopped for bathrooms (which you pay 2 – 5 pesos to use) and gas. Max has been so good on this trip! We don’t stop for him - only when we are already stopped for ourselves. Today he spent most of his time in the back of the truck, although in the early am we were cuddled up together on the backseat and slept. We drove right along the Gulf Coast of Mexico for a long time –very pretty! We were going to stop for the day at the beaches but it was only 3:30 and so we decided to keep on until dark. But after that the time flew and pretty soon it was dark and we still didn’t find a hotel. (Motel’s are for hookers). We asked some guys where to go around 6pm and they said another hour up the road. Well that town didn’t have a hotel… so we kept on. Praise God that the road was good and our truck is dependable! The moon was full and the brightest we’d ever seen! It lit up our path for us.
The next town also didn’t have a hotel. Finally (about 8:45) we found a town - but all the hotels were booked because a major soap opera was being filmed – so there was a big crowd of people and no rooms available. About 9:45 we parked the truck in front of the full hotel and a kind family across the street offered us a room in their house! That would never happen in the States. We were so glad – otherwise we would have slept in the truck all night – a bit crowded and unsafe. So praise God for really nice, hospitable people! So here we are, 10:30pm in a strangers house for the night in a random town (Tlacotalpan) on the coast in the Gulf of Mexico and I’m not stressed at all. It’s all good – God has taken care of us so well!”

Amazing the people we run into. I am imbarrased to say I may not invite 3 strangers and a dog into my home for a night. I will need to re-examine my fears. You have God's favor.
Love, Mom
You are certainly blessed! As to the bright moon, I just read yesterday that the full moon we are experiencing is really brighter than most and doesn't happen that often. I'm glad people have been so kind to you.
