Hondurans have figured it out -it makes sense really - we have Mother's Day, Father's Day, and even Grandparents Day, but no Children's day. Well here in Honduras we do and it is a huge holiday that rivals Christmas and Birthdays!
El Ayudante adopted a small remote school to celebrate with for this special day. The pueblo is called El Espino and is about 30minutes up the mountains past El Ayudante. The village is made up of about 15 families and they have no electricity, running water, no clean drinking water, no church, no store. We had a blast with them! We went with games, a few pinatas, a parachute to play games with, cupcakes, drinks, and a small gift bag for everyone present. We are hoping to continue reaching out to this village - there are some improvements that the school needs and we are hoping to get some water purifying system up there as well for them as the drinking water was so nasty!
