you can't tell because of the flash from the camera but it was pitch black so she was using a candle to read with
Last night we threw a Christmas Party for our youth group. The work started for me days in advance and I worked to have a t shirt for our youth designed and made. We have quite the stories about attempting to have tshirts made here - with the designer/makes saying that he'd have them by a certain time and getting them months later and having them look terrible etc. so we were all a bit nervous about getting them on time but I found a great tshirt guy that is wonderful and he made great tshirts and had them ready for me on time! Yea for reliable people! All day Wednesday I was wrapping the 40 tshirts, making billions of sugar cookies and frosting so they could frost their own cookies and also making pizza for the party.
The party went great - only trip up was that the power went out for the majority of the evening - but we just ran to the store next door and bought a bunch of candles and put them all over the floor - probably not up to firecode but it worked. A girls hair almost caught on fire but other than that it was fine. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy all the Christmas lights hung throughout the building. We did a white elephant gifts exchange - which was very funny and new to everyone - that's a not a Honduran game :). Sigel came home with a roll of toilet paper and a bar of soap. Then we gave them the real gifts - the tshirts and they were all so excited and put them on right away and wanted to pose for pictures :). What I thought was so neat about that was they were proud to have an identity as part of the youth group "la Raiz" - which means THE ROOT - based on the Bible verse Ephesians 3:17-19 - being rooted and established in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. All in all it was a very fun night and worth all the work that it took to do it all. Our goal was to show them they are special and loved - I think that was portrayed!

Glad to hear the youth party went so well. Congrats on getting t-shirts at last. That has been quite a lengthy ordeal for you. It's terrific the kids are so proud to wear them. I love that!
