Big week

The kids were so enthralled in the presentation! / Maddy hard at work :)

The public High School we are doing some presentations at - lots of kids!

This is the week we've been working towards for 1 & 1/2 years! Slowly we've been working on completing the mission house at El Ayudante so that it would be team worthy. We've tiled bathrooms, made picnic tables, fixed toilets, put in sinks, dug drains, fenced, painted, refixed the toilets, cut off rebar, touched up the stucco, refixed the toilets again, ....the list is endless! This week El Ayudante has there first ever official team staying at the mission house - talk about a combination of stress and excitement all rolled up in a big ball of 'lots to do'.

The team made up of 19 teens and their 5 leaders from a church in Northern Maryland. They are a great group! So respectful, fun, not complaining, and really hard working. This group learned about us through our friend Jonny who taught with us our first year in Honduras. It has been a big compliment to us because they were really impressed with the facility and with the food and our services so that is fun and good to hear. Their jobs for the week have been to do more finish work on the mission house - lots of painting and varnishing and then doing the back porch ( which involves screening, tiling, varnishing, painting, and putting up boards). They are also doing big group assemblies at high schools in the area - 3 high schools that they are speaking to the same group of kids twice. Their presentation is great and the message very important and clear.

Saturday we all head up to San Pedro where they are flying out on Sunday. Then we will make the long trip back home ourselves on Sunday. As much as I'm having a great time, I'm looking forward to going home :).

Sigel is doing great! He loves the team and has made some great friends. He's become so much more independent and confident in the last year - he used to not leave my side and now he just runs over to get a hug from me and then is off with his new friends. He will have a hard time saying goodbye on Sunday. Madelyn is doing well considering all the chaos around her. She's a trooper and does great until evening and by then she's had it with the noise and crowd of people. Madelyn and I are staying at a hotel in the town so that we don't wake up the entire mission house during the night. Madelyn is a Mama's girl and does not like others to hold her for very long or at all - so I'm learning how to do lots of things with one hand. I think that has been the hardest part for me - feeling torn to be 100% with Madelyn and 100% serving and leading the team.
