We recently received the funds for completing the rest of the walls of the medical clinic - so that it will all be ready for the roof! We have been super happy with the contractor that we are using to do the work - he is honest and has given us even lower prices then we were hoping for. He does quality work and seems to care about the project. This last week Tristan spent 2 days bringing out all the rest of the material that they will need to complete the project. He brought out 75 pieces of rebar 25ft long each, plus 160 bags of 100lb cement mix. 6 dumptruck loads of sand and gravel was also delivered. Thankfully all the block has been there so he didn't have to bring that in this time. It's amazing how fast this team of men can put up the walls- and use that much material! Looks all the walls will be completed with the support columns within 2 more weeks! Tristan is already working on getting things ready for the plumbing lines to be installed - which is the next step that must be done before the floors will be poured in June.
The other great progress that has happened lately is that it is official! - Our truck is Honduran! After 15 months of trying to get the truck imported and waiting on paperwork or waiting on lawyers, or waiting on something or another, we finally have all the paperwork finished, the inspections passed, and Honduras license plates on our truck! This means no more trips across the border every 90 days to get a new visa. I would say it was more complicated to import the truck than it was to get Tristan and my residencies. One very cool thing happened - when Tristan went to pay the registration for the truck for the year, the cost was going to be L5,800 (lempiras - not dollars!) and somehow there was a L5,000 credit under his name at registration so he only had to pay L800 to register it. Neither of us can come up with any sort of reason that he would have a credit at DMV and so we really think that God paid our registration for the year for us. I feel rewarded for having gone through the hassle of doing things correctly instead of taking the shortcuts that we really wanted to take to get it over with. A big plus to having Honduras plates is that we get stopped less often at the police checkpoints :).
