More company!

We put Gary to work at the feeding program - serving the Chop Suey to the kids. This is Amy with one of her new friends.

We don't just make our guests work, we also did some touring with them as well. :)

This last week we had 2 of Tristan's relatives here - 2nd cousins - Gary and his daughter Amy. It was really nice to have them here. Gary helped out Tristan whenever there was a chance and was just 'around' with us. Amy is here for 3 weeks and is volunteering at an orphanage that is about 2 miles from us. It's always fun to see Honduras through the eyes of visitors - it reminds us how neat it is here and different from the states. :) Tristan and Gary went to El Ayudante for a few days and continued to tile the bathrooms. Amy is fabulous with Sigel and she's played SO many rounds of "go fish" that I'm sure she never wants to here those 2 words again! She's doing such a great job loving on the kids at the orphanage - painting their nails, playing soccer, cooking tortillas, piggyback rides, you name it!

Sigel had a visa appt. last week to apply to go on a visit to the States. The appt. was on Friday and we found out on Monday that we would need to have both his biological parents come to the appt with us (Sigel wasn't thrilled that he would see his dad). So all week long we worked on getting them to come and working out the details. Monday we met with the mom for a few hours and talked - it was nice to see her. We bought Sigel's sister and niece shoes which was really fun (they really wanted barbie doll shoes but we finally settled on tennis). Friday morning we leave the house by 6am to pick up Sigel's family and be at the embassy by 8am. When we get there we sit in line until 10:15 - only to be denied the visa (for not a good enough reason for him to go). It was very upsetting and a waste of a lot of time and money (just for the appt. it costs $140!). I'm learning lots about the view of the U.S. from the otherside - both how difficult it is to do it legally and how people go illegally.

Sigel, his mom & dad, and 2 of his sisters, plus the 2 of us.

Last night we had a dinner party for Leonie's birthday (our boss) at our house. Lasagna for 20! It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Thankfully Mandy, Miranda, and Haiti all helped out with the cooking in the morning and then with the party as well. I love having company and big parties but it still stresses me out. :) It all turned out great and everyone was happy and had a good time so I'll call it a success!
