If you've been following us throughout the year, you might know that we were promised a nice big apartment with a washer and Dryer and all that, but.... that didn't happen, until this week! :) So, on Monday the apartment opened up and we moved in! We had about 10 of the bus drivers from the school moving all our furniture and than a few of the cleaning ladies in cleaning our new apartment for us - plus a few of our friends. So, it was quite a party - we were so glad for the help because now we're living on the 4th floor of the apartment building and that's a lot of stairs for a fridge, etc. Our new apartment has 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a laundry room, and then a big living room, dining room, kitchen. We could fit 3 of our old apartments into our new apartment :). It's nice to have the space, but it's also nice to have the washer and dryer and the breeze which makes it a lot cooler. Too bad we only have 7 weeks left here.
It has gotten a lot hotter here! I guess the heat has come later this year than normal and I'm glad :) . The sun is much more intense here. They say the rains will start soon and then it rains again every day.
Today we had a science fair at school and my 4th grader won 2nd place! She made a solar oven and cooked an egg. It was cool. Tristan was a judge so he spent a lot of time in the sun looking at all the experiments. Tristan also participated in a huge water fight this afternoon and the soccer team threw him into the baby pool - so he cooled off :). Everyone at school is ready for the school year to end.
This week was a strike week ;). On Tuesday we didn't have school because of a strike threat and the rest of the week we had school but there were still strikes all over the city. The strike is all about corruption in the politics. There are some people that have been doing a hunger strike for over a month. Things are heating up and people are pushing for a change. Because of all the strike days we've had we're going to have school for an extra week at the end of the year. :(
