dinners, friends, and facts

Sorry that I haven’t posted in so long. We’ll try to catch you up on the big things.

The last few weeks have been full of dinner parties J. We’ve been to a few peoples houses and some have been to our house. It’s been so nice to hang out with people. Tristan went on a weekend trip with a pastor from church up to a small village in the middle of no where. ( He’s going to blog about that). We’ve also had some WII parties into the wee parties of the night. J

School has been going pretty well. The weather has been pretty weird lately. Lately it’s been so hot here and especially hot in the classrooms, but we can’t do much about that. But, then today it was really cold and windy all day. Both the kids and the staff are starting to get antsy about being finished with school. I am seeing progress with my kids –and that’s really fun to see all the things that they are learning and remembering to apply. And, guess what! Once again, there is a strike in the city from the public school teachers and we’re not having school tomorrow J. And Friday we have parent/teacher meetings, so the kids have a four day weekend!

Tonight we went shopping and Tristan and Johnny both bought suites! Wow. Tristan looks great. I also bought two dresses. We’re thinking we’ll be needing to go on a cruise soon in order to have somewhere for Tristan to wear his suite and me my new dresses.

New things we’ve learned about Honduras lately

- Hondurans don’t have a tooth fairy – they have a Mouse Fairy instead that brings the money.

- Honduras passed a new law a couple weeks ago that restricted everyone’s driving to 6 days a week. This was in attempts to save gas – or to show that Honduras makes the effort to save gas. But, oops, the law only was in effect for a week until it was vetoed. Ha ha.

- The Honduran government subsidizes the gas here because the majority of the country cannot afford the actual price – which is almost $6.00 a gallon. Wow!

- Most neighborhoods in the city gets water maybe twice or three times a week and it fills up their supply and that is what is used for showers, toilets, and sinks.

You two sure are staying busy! Glad to hear all is well...hey, where did you get a WII??!! How cool! Still learning lots, enjoyed the 6-day driving law. (Koreans pay a lil over $6 a gallon also. Don't know how they afford those big SUVs!)

It was good to hear from you again. Everyone gets antsy to get out of school. I try really hard to not give into that otherwise you lose their attention and it is impossible to get it back. Sounds like you two keep having fun.
We love you!!!
