Plotz's are in town!

Tristan, Jeff, Sarai eating Nachos at the Processional

The people carrying the 'float' were wearing KKK masks - I have no idea what that was about and we couldn't find out. So, I donno

Tristan caught a fish! The kitchen fried it right up and then he ate it :)

Mom, Sarai, Vanessa, me, and Dania standing on a high log

Thursday morning we picked up Beth's mom, brothers, and Sarai (Dan's girlfriend) from the airport. We were so excited to see them - it's been 8 months since we've seen them! Unfortunately everything in town is closed because it's Holy Week and everyone takes time off to be with family and go on vacations. So it's been a little difficult to show them the city in it's glory. But we've had a great time! Thursday we went out to lunch, walked around downtown - which was completely closed except they were making more alfombras in the streets for the processional that evening.
Friday we got up early (after all we are on vacation and can't waste time) and went to Comayagua which is about 1 hour away to see some more alfombras and participate in the Good Friday happenings out there. The alfombras are absolutely beautiful there and it was very fun to walk around and see it all! Joel - Tristan's close friend - and his family are there for the week so we got to hang out with Joel and he showed us all around. After watching the processionals and eating some food we went to a zoo and a restaurant that serves only corn foods. It was all traditional foods, then we walked around the zoo. Mom is working on getting used to the money differences here - she gave Dan $25 for a bowl of nachos and me $.50 for food for 4. :) It's been pretty funny. After that we moved on to the next restaurant (by this time everyone was asking if all we do is eat here) which is a fish restaurant next to a man made lake where people can come and catch their own lunch. So Tristan and Dan fished for lunch - Dan caught one right away and wanted to keep fishing so he tossed it back - but he didn't catch another so he went hungry :(. Tristan was about to give up but finally caught one - he was so proud to catch his own dinner - the kitchen cooked it up for him and he enjoyed food he caught :).
Saturday we hiked up a creek to a little waterfall. It was fun to go exploring and to be outside. We all were attacked by mosquitoes the whole time - swatting our arms and getting at least 3 at a time! Some swam in the freezing water. We then did some tourist shopping, went to our Spanish church, and then went out to pizza with a bunch of our friends.
Today is Sunday and we have a bit of a spa going on - our friend Maria is here doing nails and our friend Jenny is giving massages. It's a very relaxing day. We're going to our English church this evening. Tomorrow school starts :(.

HI Guys~Sounds like you had a blast showing your fam around. Did they bring any "American" things with them for you? I know we really miss Reese's candy over here. Hope all's well!!
