On Thursday we took off for Southern Honduras to the islands that used to be volcanoes. Amapala is the main island and it's black sand! :) On the way there we had to slow often for cows passing or chickens on the road. We also passed some sugar cane fields that they were harvesting. We took a short trip on a boat to the island and checked into a great hotel with a swimming pool and lots of palm trees. It's very hot in Southern Honduras so we appreciated the pool. We played hearts well into the night and had more carne asada. The next morning we went in a little taxi around the island to a black sand beach to spend the day. Because the sun was so hot we were spending lots of our time in the beautiful water... until... Tristan spotted two 3 foot snakes swimming in the Pacific with us! Yikes! So, that ended the swimming for us, which ended the beach time because it was too incredibly hot without the ability to go in the water. So, we had some lunch by the beach and then road in the back of a truck to the peer where we caught a water taxi back to the main land.
Bruce and Shanon took off Saturday afternoon. It was great to have them here for the whole week and sad to see them go. Back to work...

A beautiful sun setting behind the nearby island - wow.
