Maddy turned 2!

I can't believe that Maddy is now 2 years old! She is now long and heavy - i remember when we were able to 'drape' her over an arm and walk around... now she fills up a whole lap and 2 arms :). She was bald 2 years ago (ok she still was bald 8 months ago) and now her hair is growing into a beautiful blond curly mess! Maddy is now talking up a storm, she's learned how to do summersaults, loves to help Mommy and Daddy and is always concerned about where 'bro-bro' is and is very happy when we're all together. Maddy spends car rides looking for horses or cows and counts them one at a time ( 'one, one, one' ). She loves her cat and yet is very mean to him. I think her favorite color is purple and by far her favorite thing right now is Monkeys. In the last month or so she's discovered TV and she is still very passionate about her shoes. She loves to play 'hide and seek'. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter!

(Madelyn at 2 weeks - sleeping on Daddy's arm)

So we had a birthday party for her and invited a bunch of friends and neighbors to come over for carne asada (the typical Honduran plate with grilled steak) as beans, tortillas, and cheese are Maddy's favorite foods...unfortunately she was pretty overwhelmed by the chaos and hardly ate anything all night - including her cake :(. We had about 40 people hanging out for the night - the little ones playing side walk chalk, the youth playing soccer and basketball and the adults hanging around talking. For me the bummer part of hosting parties is I don't have time to just sit down and talk to people but all in all it was good. Our great friends Miranda and Jenny came and they helped the entire party! we also did a monkey pinata - which maddy refused to hit - however once the candy started flying she was much happier and then liked that part of the party. I made a monkey banana cake  and we had homemade mango ice cream - the cute part was when maddy figured out we were singing "Happy Birthday" to her - she got the cutest look on her face and was so excited! and she even knew to blow out the candle! Her big gift was a little pink and purple trike that she calls her 'moto' (motorcycle).

(sorry the pics are fuzzy - our camera is on it's last leg :( )
