The past 2 weeks have been very full and a lot of fun :). My sister Melissa - her husband Jeremie and Hannah (6) and Isaac (7mo) came to visit. We had lots of fun and squeezed in our work around the side :). Hannah and Maddy were fast friends and alternately fought and played well with each other about as fast as I can blink. The biggest source of tension was that we added a cat to our family as well so they were fighting about who got to hold the kitty - Felix - the most.
It was so nice to spend so much time with my sister - we haven't spent this much time together since before she was married!
Sigel and Hannah also found friendship easily - they played games together and picked on each other in the pool. This is them climbing up some Mayan Ruin replicas that we went to in Pichacho Park near Tegucigalpa.
My friend Diana brought her horse to EA one day for the kids to ride as Hannah was dying to ride a horse - and Sigel usually shys away from horses but this time he got on and wandered around a bit!
This last weekend we had our first board meeting of Mision Internacional El Ayudante - the newly formed board of more local people that are very excited to be involved and minister with El Ayudante! It was a great meeting and encouraging for us to be able to discuss things with them!
Also this weekend there was a youth event at El Ayudante put on by the local church - just a few blocks up the road from El Ayudante - and they had invited other churches as well - it was really neat to see - there were over 120 youth from near EA and they did worship, a preaching, lunch, and then they played soccer all afternoon - what a great thing!
And of course we had to take cousin pics as this was the first time all 4 cousins were in the same place at the same time!
This week we received our shipment of 98 water filters that was donated for us to distribute among the villages we work with! This kit will provide a household with clean drinking water for 10 years!!! - life changing!!! So we put Jeremie to work unloading these with Tristan :). They men also built some of the strongest shelves i've ever seen in EA"s new tool room at the project. We have run out of storage space and the old tool room will now be the laundry room and we're in the process of moving the tools out. Melissa and Hannah also helped me start the huge job of taking inventory of EVERYTHING that EA has - we got a good jump on it except we've yet to start the tools :(.
We took a night off vacation to Tegucigalpa and went to a hotel and swam and ate Pizza and played and went to the park etc - it was a blast. Above is Maddy chasing the birds - her and Hannah had a blast. This was also Sigel's last big hurrah as school started for him last week! So far he's pretty happy with his new school and he's starting to get to know people (we switched him to a smaller school this year). oh - and somehow I was volunteered to be the Vice Presidents of the PTA at his school ...sigh. :) i wouldn't have volunteered due to the language factor but I'm excited about being involved and hopefully getting to know some other families at the school.
Well I think that's it for now - other things that happened might be too blah to read about :) but we had a great time for sure and it wasn't blah to us :).
