A quick weekend trip to Pacayal

This weekend we went to Pacayal - it's a community of Indians that live up in the mountains outside of the pueblo of Yorito (for those of you who feel like looking at a map to see where we were). it's about 4 hours from our house. We've been a part of helping a church in Boston work with the people there - they asked the Indian chief what the community needed and they asked for a community center - so that's what the church is doing. The church is also helping the community by supporting a local gentleman in his endeavors to start a church, and also doing things like micro loans etc. It's neat. We've been helping for over 2 years at this project now - and it's amazing how far it's come! The first time Tristan went is when they spoke with the chief and elders of the town - and now this weekend they were finishing the siding and putting up the interior walls!

This was Maddy's first trip to a place with no running water or electricity and she did great! She loved spending the day playing in the dirt and petting the horse. Sigel helped as much as he could - mostly carrying wood and holding stuff in place for Tristan. Tristan was on the interior walls crew, and Maddy was on the dirt crew and me...well, I chased Maddy around the whole time taking dirt out her mouth. It was a fast trip but we enjoyed the adventure, seeing the people we know, and Tristan loved continuing to work on a building that he has been a part of from the beginning and every step along the way.
