September was really busy as we were running around seeing people and looking for trucks and trailers and figuring out paperwork and how taxes work for missionaries and all of that stuff.
I had corrective eye surgery this month and the results are great! I had PRK (which is different from Lasik in that it is done on the surface of the eye instead of the DR making in flap). The pros to this type of surgery is that there is less risk of problems later on and less chance of a mistake being made. The con is that it is a much harder recovery. I had the surgery Friday afternoon and I was in bed all weekend through Monday. Tristan called it my 'cave' because the light hurt so much I hid in bed with blankets over the windows and I just got up to take more pills. So I was really worried by how much my eyes hurt that I was the statistic of the mistakes. But, i woke up Monday and I could open my eyes and by Tuesday I could see pretty well, and now two weeks later - I can see better than with my contacts and the colors are more brilliant! I'm so glad to have it done and to not have to put in or take out contacts anymore! Well worth it!
Tristan is busy doing things like remodeling rooms and lifting up a house to change out the rotted foundation and replacing siding and windows and doors and all of that. He's pretty much amazing :). Yes I'm biased but even if I weren't he's still amazingly talented! oh - and he also found a dead body in a creek... yikes! Yep, he was working for a real estate agent and he was the first to discover a body - so he called the police and told them what he knew. Tristan's ok from the incident but we sure hope it never happens again.
We are working hard fundraising for our journey and life change to missions. It's very daunting asking people for money but so far God has been good and we're inching a little closer to our goal. We also found a truck that we love and we're working out a price with the people who are selling it. Great story there - they are Christians and love missions so we connected really quickly. Also, they live in Oregon but happened to be here for vacation so we were able to test drive it here in CA instead of making the trek to OR. we thought that was way cool.
Hm... those are the highlights of the month of September. We're loving life and what we're doing. Really we can't complain :)
