Sorry that it's been so long since I've blogged. We no longer have dependable internet at our house so when we do go to the coffee shop to use the internet we're usually in a hurry. Things have been going great! We're busy - finishing up school and trying to squeeze in as many social activities as possible! So much has happened the last few weeks, I'll give you the highlights...
A few weekends ago we went to a waterfall that 'no one' knows about. We were supposed to hike to the bottom but we couldn't find the trail so we ended up hanging out at the source of the falls and swam and jumped off the cliffs (well, i didn't jump but they did :) ). We went with some great friends of ours so it was very fun. It's just amazing how beautiful so many places of the world is and how so much of it is hidden from most people.
It was Vanessa's 21st birthday the other weekend and since there is a no drinking policy, we took her around to a progressive dinner. There was about 8 of us girls and we all dressed up to the 10's and went around to 4 restaurants - it was very fun! While i was at that Tristan went to a celebration at church which was pretty much an outside worship party. I could hear the music from our house which is about a half mile away crystal clear. There were over 3,000 people there and the parking lot is so crowded that they were packed in like sardines - Tristan came back with a fingerslice on his face and drenched in sweat - tight quarters ;).
This last week Jonny ( a co-NA teacher) had his family and friends here on a missions trip - they worked all week at building a church in a village about 1 1/2 hours out of the city. We had 5 girls staying in our apartment. It felt good to be able to help out and be a part of what they were doing by giving them floor space. :)
Tristan was fighting a pretty bad sinus/infection/sickness for about three weeks but I think he's finally feeling better. Now I'm home sick today with something different. Hopefully it won't last as long as his!
In the last month or so we've become really great friends with a family here - John and Adrianna, and their two little kids Steven and Kathryn. We've been having dinner with them at least once a week or more! It's been really fun to have another couple that we get along with so well. I tease Tristan that John is his boyfriend because he's also texting him and they're always finding some excuse to hang out together. This Friday we're going to their house for turkey dinner and on Saturday I"m going to the pool with Adrianna while Tristan participates in a golf tournament with John and others from church. John and Tristan look alike - so much so that they've gotten many people asking if they are brothers (pictures soon to follow).
There's a lot of stuff coming up in the next two weeks! Good thing it's fun things and we like being busy! :) oh - it's finally started raining here and wow what a difference it's made in the weather! It's still hot but not nearly as bad and there are clouds again so it's not so intense in the sun. We've had some amazing thunder and lightning storms - the first one of the season was during the school day and we lost power the rest of the afternoon. The thunder and rain was so loud I couldn't teacher because they couldn't hear me (and they were screaming and cheering after every boom :) ).
