Day 9 - We went to the bull fighting in San Jose tonite. It was really fun there were like 100 to 150 people in the ring with the bull. We almost didn't get in because it was sold out but we begged the guard to let us in to take pictures. When we went in we stood at the gate then we were able to sneek away and we found seats in the front row. We saw two differents bulls and one bull fighter was carried off on a stretcher. One guy had a helmet with a camera and the bull slammed him into the ground... he was fine. I think the bulls we more confused than mad! Day 10 - Parts of today was very frusterating! After paying the ridiculous exit tax that you have to pay leaving every Central American country ($20-$30 pp), we said goodbye to Costa Rica and hello to Panama. Costa Rica's weather had been cooler than we were expecting and so exiting the airport in Panama into very humid and hot weather was a shock. We took about an hours ride on the public bus into the city and got off close to where we hoped a hostel would be. After going to three hostels that were full, and getting lost on the way to the other, we arrived at our home for the night. By this time we were hot and tired and looking for the first flight out of Panama. Neither of us had the 'happy feeling' vibe of this new city. But, after lunch ( awesome Panamanian sandwiches) and some peptalking we settled down to figure out what to do for the week. We talked with some very nice people, read our tour book, and now we're a lot happier and have a plan. Unfortunately we didn't do anything great today - but we're ready for some full days to come. Tomorrow we leave for Coronado which is a little town an hour away that sounds very relaxing. Some of our orignal plans have changed because we were discouraged due to safety reasons. So - instead we're going to Isla Grande, Isla Tobago, Coronado, and some sightseeing in Panama City - including of course the canal. |
