Building in Honduras

Well everyone probably knew that I (Tristan) could not go a whole year without doing construction. Jonny and I have spent two Saturdays working with a cell group from the church on building a new daughter church of CEAD. Jonny and I have become part of the cell group and it is a lot of fun, they are the guys that we play soccer with on Fridays. the building is in a town called San Buena Ventura (spelling?) and it is about 45 minutes outside of town. a team from the states came ad built the "Tabernacle" which is a pre-fabed building structure, but they only completed the roof. We have been working on the walls, leveling the "Dirt" Floor, and moving lots of sand. I knew it had been a long time since i had worked when on the first day I got 7 blisters on my hands. it is really hard work because it is all manual labor. The first Saturday we worked primarily on leveling the floor, which meant digging up dirt, wheel borrowing it into the church, then spreading and compacting it. The second Saturday we were making re bar framing for the cement columns and moving sand. The town is putting in a sewer system so all the roads are torn up and all the materials have to be carried about two football fields. We had to carry the sand which was about two dump truck loads worth up to the church. While the work was hard the food they gave us was well worth the labor. Both times they fed us 3 to 4 times we had (all Homemade) tamales, breakfast burritos, a topical plate (meat rice & beans), chicken sandwiches, and more. the building was a great way for Jonny and I to get to know the guys better and have fun with them.

Pictures to come (Check the blog again in January)

Love Everyone
Tristan
