My classroom

Some cool clouds from our rooftop

Today was national Children's Day for all the children in Honduras. This means only a half day of classes and the other day is spent having a party. It was pretty fun, but also crazy. All my students brought in different foods and desserts to share and we ate and played games together. We also had a pinata that the kids loved. My classroom was a complete disaster by the time that they left, but they all had a great time and it was way more fun than handwriting and reading. Tristan came in and helped me for the times that he wasn't teaching (highschoolers are apparently not Children any more because they don't get to celebrate) which was a great help! Hopefully the sugar high will be gone by tomorrow morning.

Tristan's classes are going well. Unfortunately they still do not have books so it puts a lot more work on Tristan's desk - such as creating lessons from old books etc. Hopefully the books will be here soon.

One of Tristan's students invited all the North American teachers to her parents restaurant after church. It was a great authentic Honduran BBQ restaurant with a wading pool and swing set for kids. The food was great! They also had a pet monkey named "Tito" who we went to go see. I put my doggie bag of food on the bench by the cage to grab my camera and within 3 seconds Tito had grabbed my food with his tail and had it in the cage. He really enjoyed our leftover steak and chorizo. :)

How fun! Korea celebrates Children's Day May 5th. Does this Tito know any other tricks besides swiping people food? Hope Tristan gets his books in soon!

PICTURES! that's what i'm talking about. it's like we're all there now (by we, i mean those of us faithful to reading your blog!) So cool to see the kids you are teaching and knowing how things are going.
How did we ever survive before the internet?
Glad to hear things are going well... Sorry to hear about Tristan's books still not being there.
Miss and love you both!

So where are the pictures of the Monkey?

I wonder if he is like Panchito or larger?

Way Cool!! Childrens day certainly has it's advantages. I guess you can do handwriting and Math anyday. I love all of the pictures you are showing us. I love you both.
